Colombia Set to Extradite FARC Rebel to US

Colombia is set to extradite leftist rebel Omaira Rojas to the United States, where she is wanted on drug trafficking charges.

Officials say Ms. Rojas, also known as Sonia, will be sent to the United States Wednesday, but they did not give a specific time. Last week, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe authorized Ms. Rojas' extradition.

A federal court in Washington has charged the 37-year-old rebel with smuggling and distributing more than five kilograms of cocaine into the country.

Authorities say Ms. Rojas is a top member of the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC. She is accused of running the finances for the rebel group's southern bloc.
