Another Appeal Rejected as US Brain-Damaged Woman Nears Death

update

The parents of a brain-damaged Florida woman lost another state court petition to reinsert her feeding tube Saturday, hours after they abandoned appeals through the federal court system.

The Florida Supreme Court on Saturday rejected what Bob and Mary Schindler had earlier described as "one last appeal" before the body. Appeals filed by the state of Florida and Gov. Jeb Bush are pending in state court, but are seen as unlikely to succeed.

Doctors expect Terri Schiavo - who has been without food and water since March 18 -- to die within days.

Mrs. Schiavo's husband Michael fought for removal of the feeding tube, saying she did not want kept alive artificially. Her parents say she wants to live.
