Golf:  DiMarco Leads Masters Tournament

Second round play is under way at the Masters, the first major golf tournament of the year, with American Chris DiMarco leading the field after finishing the rain-delayed first round at 5-under-par, 67.

DiMarco played the final four holes of the first round Friday morning and added a birdie to his score from Thursday.

One shot off the pace with 68s were world number one Vijay Singh of Fiji and England's Luke Donald. Two shots back at 69 were Australian golfers Mark Hensby and Stuart Appleby.

Defending champion Phil Mickelson of the United States shot a first round score of 70, three shots off the pace, while former champion Tiger Woods of the United States carded a 2-over-par, 74, seven strokes back.

In early second round action Friday, Dave Howell was 5-under-par through eight holes to move into a tie for the lead.

Rain made the Augusta National course soggy and caused a 5:30:00 hour delay Thursday. The weather forecast was calling for afternoon thunderstorms Friday, but skies are expected to clear Saturday and Sunday.
