A strong earthquake off the coast of Indonesia rocked Sumatra's west coast Sunday and was felt as far away as Singapore.
No damage or casualties have been reported, but residents of high-rise apartments in Singapore, 600 kilometers northeast of the quake's center, said they could feel their buildings swaying.
The U.S. Geological Survey measured the late-afternoon quake at magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale. It was centered in Indonesia's Kepulauan Mentawai region.
More than five hours since the quake hit, there have been no reports of a tsunami.
A massive earthquake off Indonesia on December 26 triggered a tsunami across the Indian Ocean that killed more than 180,000 people. Nearly 50,000 are still missing.
