Chile's former dictator Augusto Pinochet has been rushed to a hospital, apparently suffering from a stroke.
Staff of the 89-year old retired general say he was taken to a military hospital in Santiago. Few other details have been given. But the Associated Press quotes military officials as saying his condition is not serious.
General Pinochet has been hospitalized for several strokes in the past.
The former dictator, who headed a military government from 1973 to 1990, faces several criminal proceedings over human rights violations committed during his rule, but Chile's courts have ruled that he is too ill to stand trial.
