American Justin Leonard has built a five-stroke lead midway through the St. Jude Classic golf tournament in Memphis, Tennessee.
Leonard followed his opening round score of 62 in Friday's second round with six birdies against one bogey for a five-under-par, 65. He has a 36-total of 13-under, 127, which matches the lowest two-round score this season, set by Joe Ogilvie at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in January.
Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson is in second place heading into Saturday's third round at eight-under-par (132). American Paul Goydos is another shot back (133).
Four Americans - Matt Gogel, Heath Slocum, Tom Pernice Junior and Roland Thatcher - are tied in fourth place, seven shots behind Leonard (at 134).
Two time defending champion David Toms of the United States carded a one-over-par, 71 to land 12 shots off the lead, virtually putting him out of contention for a third straight title. Kenny Perry, who won last week's Colonial tournament by seven strokes, missed Friday's cut.
