Allenby Leads Booz Allen Golf by Two Strokes

Australian golfer Robert Allenby leads countryman Adam Scott and three others after the second round of the Booz Allen Classic tournament in suburban Washington, D-C.

Allenby fired a 6-under-par 65 in the second round and is 9-under-par, 133 for the tournament.

Adam Scott shot a 4-under-par 67 and is tied with first round leader Matt Gogel and Steve Elkington of the United States and England's Lee Westwood at 7-under-par 135.

Two-time U-S Open champion Ernie Els of South Africa is part of a group of golfers three strokes off the lead at 6-under-par 136. Els won the U.S. Open on the Congressional Course in 1997. World number one golfer Vijay Singh of Fiji shot a 2-under-par 69 and is in a tie for 43rd place at 2-under-par 140.

The tournament is being played on the 6,581-meter, par-71 Congressional Country Club, Blue Course. It is a key warm-up for the second major tournament of the year, the U.S. Open, next week in Pinehurst.
