Furyk Leads Barclays Classic After Two Rounds


American golfer Jim Furyk has a one-stroke lead over countryman Brian Gay headed into the third round of the Barclays Classic golf tournament in Harrison, New York.

Furyk shot a 2-under-par 69 in the second round and is 8-under-par 134 for the tournament. Gay had a 5-under-par 66 and is 7-under-par 135 for two rounds. Five golfers are tied for third place at 6-under-par 136.

Defending champion Sergio Garcia of Spain shot an even-par 71 and is in a tie for 33rd place at 1-over-par 143. World number two golfer Vijay Singh of Fiji fired an even-par 71 in the second round and is in a tie for ninth place at 3-under-par 139.

The tournament is being played on the Westchester Country Club course, a par-71 layout that measures 6,253 meters. The winner takes home $1,035,000.
