US Issues New Travel Warning for Bosnia

update

The U.S. State Department has issued a new travel advisory for Americans in or planning to go to Bosnia-Herzegovina, warning of landmines and crime.

Monday's warning says more than 600,000 unexploded mines and other ordnance remain in Bosnia. It says the location of many mines is unknown and recommends people stay on hard surfaces and avoid orchards and abandoned buildings.

It also warns of a rise in burglaries, car theft, and petty crimes and that American interests continue to be the target of threats.

The State Department urges Americans to avoid crowds and demonstrations and keep a low profile.
