Mediterranean Search for Wrecked Tunisian Plane

update

Authorities in Italy say emergency crews are searching the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Sicily Sunday, looking for at least two missing victims of a Tunisian Air flight that crashed Saturday.

At least 13 people died in the crash; 23 aboard the twin-engine plane survived.

The pilot, who survived, says he was trying to make an emergency landing in Sicily but his engines failed completely while the ATR-72 plane was still over water, 20 kilometers short of Palermo airport.

Witnesses said the plane plunged nose-first into the sea. The chartered flight was heading from Bari in southern Italy to the Tunisian resort island of Djerba.
