A Chilean judge has indicted the wife and son of former dictator Augusto Pinochet as accomplices in a tax fraud case.
The judge Wednesday, ordered Lucia Hiriart under arrest at a military hospital, where she was undergoing treatment. Reuters news agency reports Mr. Pinochet's son, Marco Antonio Pinochet, is being held at a police headquarters.
Mr. Pinochet has been under investigation for tax evasion stemming from his multi-million-dollar bank accounts secretly held in the United States.
General Pinochet ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990. During that time, more than 3,000 people died or disappeared.
The 89-year-old former leader has suffered a number of strokes in recent years and has evaded prosecution because of his failing health.
