The ruler of the oil-rich sultanate of Brunei has taken a former Malaysian television journalist as his second wife.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and 26-year-old Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim were married Saturday night in a private ceremony in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
The New Straits Times newspaper says family members, relatives and close friends of the couple attended the wedding.
The 58-year-old sultan divorced his second wife, former stewardess Mariam Abdul Aziz of Brunei, in February of 2003. He remains married to his first wife, Anak Salleha.
The sultan, known as one of the world's richest men, took the throne in October of 1967 after his father abdicated.
