Russia Arrests Bosnian Serb War Crimes Suspect

News reports from Bosnia-Herzegovina say authorities in Russia have arrested a Bosnian Serb wanted by the United Nations war crimes tribunal in The Hague.

The reports identify the suspect as Dragan Zelenovic, 44. The tribunal indicted him in 1999 for his alleged role in the rape and torture of Muslim prisoners in the city of Foca in the early years of the Bosnian conflict.

At the time, Mr. Zelenovic was the deputy commander of a Bosnian Serb paramilitary unit in Foca.

The reports quote officials in Bosnia's Serb Republic as saying they have received news of the arrest, but no formal notification of the action. They also could not specify either the location or circumstances of the arrest.
