French commando troops have retaken a cargo ship that was seized on Tuesday by striking union workers.
The commandos rappelled from five military helicopters onto the deck of the Pascal Paoli this Wednesday morning. The ship was located near a port on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica when the raid occurred.
The commandos gained control of the ship within minutes.
Officials say the ship was seized by union workers angry over plans by Paris to sell the financially ailing, state-owned National Corsica Mediterranean Company (SNCM) to a private investment group. Some information for this report provided by AFP and Reuters.
