Ghana Defeats Saudi Arabia in Football Match

update

In Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, yesterday, Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, defeated the Saudis by three goals to one.

The Stars, playing without their inspirational skipper, Stephen Appiah, and Africa’s most expensive player, Michael Essien, put up a splendid performance in front of a huge home crowd.

Sulley Ali Muntari, who plies his trade with Udinese in Italy, equalized for Ghana in the 41st minute after Al Temyat had given the home side the lead in the 31st minute. Asomaoh Gyan of Modena, also in Italy, added his first goal of the afternoon at the stroke of half time. He was on target again in the 72nd minute to clinch the winner for the Black Stars.

From Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, goal scorer Asamoah Gyan talks with English to Africa reporter Peter Clottey about the match.
