Japan's Hiroyuki Tomita has won the all-around men's gold medal at the World Gymnastics championships in Melbourne, Australia.
The 25-year-old finished the six apparatuses - vault, floor exercise, rings, parallel bars, high bar and pommel horse - with a total score of 56.698 points to earn Japan's first world all-around gold medal since 1974.
Countryman Hisashi Mizutori finished second 1.349 points behind the winner. Denis Savenkov of Belarus was third (55.112 points).
The women's all-around final is Friday with American Nastia Liukin favored to take the gold medal.
