Families Grieve, Authorities Investigate Nigerian Airliner Crash

Investigators in Nigeria say they have found the flight data recorders from the wreckage of an airliner that crashed Saturday in Port Harcourt, killing 107 people.

Investigators said Sunday the so-called black boxes would be analyzed to try to determine why the airplane crashed and burned as it attempted a landing in stormy weather.

71 of those killed were schoolchildren on their way home for Christmas break from a Catholic school in Abuja.

Family members of the victims have been directed to the morgues of local hospitals to identify and claim the bodies.

Nigeria's president, Olusegun Obanasjo had vowed to improve safety procedures for all Nigerian aircraft after another airline crash in October killed 117 people.
