Third Sales Period for World Cup Tickets Begins Monday

The third sales period for tickets to the 2006 World Cup in Germany gets underway Monday, with another 250,000 tickets available in an Internet lottery.

The World Cup draw was held Friday, which means that for the first time, fans will be able to apply for tickets knowing the opponents of their favorite teams.

German World Cup committee vice president Horst R. Schmidt expects the demand to outstrip the supply of tickets, and says there are just a limited number of tickets left for the semifinals and final.

Ticket requests can be made on the internet at the FIFA website. The deadline for requests is January 15, with the lottery to be held on January 31.
