Uganda's army says rebels have killed at least eight civilians, including a child, in an ambush on a vehicle in the northern district of Lira.
An army spokesman said Thursday that a group of five rebels from the Lord's Resistance Army carried out Tuesday's attack.
Ugandan rebels are notorious for attacking and kidnapping civilians. Their 19-year-old insurgency has devastated northern Uganda and uprooted more than one million people.
