President Bush has hailed Iraq's parliamentary elections, but said it is unrealistic to believe that democratic achievement will achieve a goal of zero violence.
In an interview Friday on the U.S. Public Broadcasting Service, Mr. Bush said there will still be those who try to influence the political debate with violence.
Mr. Bush predicted his policy of training and equipping Iraqis to perform security functions would eventually be successful.
Earlier, Mr. Bush hailed the election and its high voter turnout as a glorious day for Iraqi citizens as he welcomed to the White House Iraq's ambassador to the United Nations.
The White House says Mr. Bush will deliver a broadcast address to the nation Sunday night on the subject of Iraq.
