Luge: Zöggeler Slides to World Cup Crown.


Italian slider Armin Zöggeler has won a World Cup luge competition in Igls, Austria, and clinched the overall season title.

Zöggeler finished with a combined time of 1:38.121 seconds, nearly 0.60 seocnds ahead of countryman Reinhold Rainer. German David Möller was third (0.715 seconds back). The win was Zöggeler's fourth of the season and guarantees him a fifth World Cup title.

The Italian leads the overall standings with 544 points, 106 more than American Tony Benshoof, who finished 14th. With only one race left in the season, Benshoof could not catch Zöggeler.

The women's singles and men's doubles competitions are scheduled for Sunday on the same track.
