A Chilean judge has questioned former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori, as part of a process to decide whether he should be extradited to Peru to face corruption and human rights charges.
Supreme Court judge Orlando Alvarez questioned Mr. Fujimori for almost four hours Tuesday at a military school in Santiago where he is being held.
Mr. Fujimori, who resigned the presidency in 2000 while in Japan, was arrested in Santiago in early November. He had traveled to the Chilean capital to begin a political comeback in Peru.
The government of Peru formally requested his extradition early this month.
The Associated Press quotes Supreme Court spokesman Miguel Gonzalez as saying Tuesday's session was the first of various interrogations.
