The city of Pittsburgh has welcomed home the National Football League champion Steelers with a parade through downtown streets.
Pittsburgh won Super Bowl 40 on Sunday with a 21-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Detroit. The Steelers had to win their last four regular season games just to reach the playoffs. Pittsburgh then defeated the top three American Conference seeds on the road before knocking off the top National Conference team.
Thousands of cheering fans braved freezing temperatures Tuesday to catch a glimpse of their favorite players, including Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Hines Ward. Also in the procession were second-year quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and running back Jerome Bettis, who ended his 13-year NFL career with a Super Bowl victory.
