Nigeria has defeated Senegal, 1-0, to win the bronze medal in the African Cup of Nations football (soccer) tournament in Egypt.
The match was scoreless until the 79th minute, when Garba Lawal scored for the Super Eagles. Thursday's result marked the third straight time Nigeria has won the bronze medal.
Pape Bouba Diop had a chance ot tie the game in the 88th minute, but his free kick hit the defensive wall and he could not score on the deflection.
The championship match is Friday when host country Egypt takes on Ivory Coast.
