Republican Congressman Tom DeLay of Texas has won his party's nomination to stand for re-election in November.
DeLay beat out three Republican challengers to win 62 percent of the vote from Tuesday's primary. Nick Lampson was unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
Tuesday's vote was DeLay's first contest since he stepped down as House majority leader last year after being indicted in Texas on charges of campaign finance irregularities.
He has also come under scrutiny for his close ties to lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who has pleaded guilty to fraud and tax evasion.
After the vote, DeLay released a statement praising voters for rejecting what he called the "politics of personal destruction."
Across Texas, voters selected Democratic and Republican candidates for other House races, as well as for governor and U.S. senator, to run in the November election.
