A World Health Organization lab in Indonesia has confirmed that two children have died from bird flu, raising the nation's official death toll from the virus to 22.
The Indonesian health ministry says a 12-year-old girl died March 1, and a three-year old boy died last month from the bird flu virus. Both were from Central Java province
Meanwhile, Serbian health experts Thursday confirmed the republic's first bird fatality due to the virus.
A wild swan was found dead last week near the border with Croatia. Officials say tests run on the bird show it tested positive for the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus.
Bird flu has spread from Asia to Europe, Africa and the Middle East over the past several months. It has killed more than 90 people since 2003, mostly in Asia.
