'Railroad Killer' Executed in Texas

update

A Mexican national known as the "Railroad Killer" has been executed in Texas.

Angel Maturino Resendiz was put to death by lethal injection Tuesday night.

Judges dismissed late pleas to delay the execution, including one from the Mexican government, which contended Resendiz was mentally unstable.

Resendiz was convicted in the 1998 rape and murder of a Texas doctor, and was linked to at least 15 murders in six U.S. states.

Resendiz traveled by stowing away on railroad cars, leading him to be dubbed the "Railroad Killer."

Some information for this report was provided by AFP and AP.
