The Minnesota Twins defeated the struggling Chicago White Sox 4-3 in major league baseball action Tuesday.
Minnesota's Jason Bartlett hit a three-run home run against their American League rivals, while Twins pitcher Johan Santana struck out six Chicago batters. The White Sox have now lost 11 of their last 14 games, and have fallen seven and a half games behind the first-place Detroit Tigers in the AL Central division.
Minnesota is in third place in the division, just one game behind the defending World Series champions.
Tuesday's other winners in the American League include Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, New York, Boston and Toronto. The National League winners include Washington, the Chicago Cubs, Florida, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St. Louis and San Diego.
The Cleveland Indians pounded the Detroit Tigers 12-7. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays downed the Los Angeles Angels 6-3. Kansas City's Mark Teahen hit two home runs and drove in a total of five runs to help the Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-5.
The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers 7-4. The Boston Red Sox trounced the Oakland A's 13-5, and the Toronto Blue Jays routed the Seattle Mariners 12-3.
The Washington Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants 8-6. The Chicago Cubs downed the New York Mets 8-6. The Florida Marlins defeated the Atlanta Braves 2-1.
The Cincinnati Reds recorded a 2-0 shutout victory over the Houston Astros. The Pittsburgh Pirates pounded the Milwaukee Brewers 6-1. The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 in 11 innings.
The St. Louis Cardinals eked out a 1-0 shutout win over the Colorado Rockies, thanks to Albert Pujols' 33rd home run of the season, and the San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3.
