In neighboring Kandahar province, an American soldier was wounded when a suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laden car near a military convoy on the main highway to Kabul.

And, armed men attacked a police post overnight in the Murghab district of western Badghis province, killing at least two Afghan border police.
