Tennis: Juan Carlos Ferrero, Andy Roddick Meet in Ohio Final

update

Former world number one tennis stars Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain and American Andy Roddick will meet Sunday in the finals of the Western and Southern Financial Masters tennis tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In their last meeting in the finals of a tournament, Roddick beat Ferrero for the 2003 U.S. Open title.

Ferrero, a former French Open champion, has not won a tournament since 2003, and has not played in a tournament final since last October.

On Saturday, the unseeded Ferrero scored an upset 6-3, 6-4 win over seventh seeded fellow-Spaniard Tommy Robredo.

Ninth seeded Roddick dominated 13th seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile, 6-3, 6-3.

The hard-court tournament is one of several key warm-up events players are using to prepare for the U.S. Open, the last major tennis tournament of the year, which starts August 28 in New York.
