Four Dead in Afghan Blasts

Two bomb blasts in southern Afghanistan have killed two civilians and two policemen.

Military officials say a suicide bomber detonated his car near a NATO convoy outside the city of Kandahar, killing two civilians and wounding one. No NATO soldiers were injured.

In neighboring Helmand province, an explosion hit a police vehicle on patrol in Grieshk district, killing two policemen.

Meanwhile, in the capital Kabul, another explosion went off just moments after a NATO patrol drove by. There were no injuries or damage reported.

On Monday, a suicide bomber killed 17 people and wounded nearly 50 others in a crowded market in Helmand province's capital, Lashkar Gah. Officials said 15 children were among the wounded.

Violence has increased in recent weeks since NATO forces moved to southern Afghanistan to destroy Taleban hideouts.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
