West African leaders have ended a summit on Ivory Coast, expressing their support for a United Nations peace plan to end the crisis.
Leaders from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) called the meeting in Nigeria to discuss ways of reviving the stalled peace process.
In a statement Saturday, they said U.N. Security Council resolution 1633 is the ideal framework to resolve the situation in Ivory Coast. That 2005 resolution calls for Ivory Coast's prime minister, Charles Konan Banny, to oversee a disarmament process and new elections.
A presidential vote set for later this month has been postponed.

The West African leaders also agreed to a set of unspecified recommendations that will be forwarded to the African Union.
Ivory Coast has been split between a rebel-held north and government-controlled south since a 2002 civil war.
