NHL: Brodeur Earns 450th Career Win, Devils Beat Penguins

New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur earned the 450th win of his career as the Devils beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 Wednesday in National Hockey League action.

Brodeur joins Patrick Roy and Ed Belfour as the only goaltenders with 450 regular season victories. He gave up his only goal late in the second period to Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin, one of the NHL's most anticipated rookies in recent years. The Russian was making his first regular season start after a missing a nearly a month due to a dislocated shoulder.

Jay Pandolfo and Jamie Langenbrunner scored for New Jersey.

Washington, Nashville, Colorado, Chicago, Anaheim and Minnesota were the NHL's other winners on Wednesday.

The Washington Capitals scored all of their goals during an explosive first period as they beat the Florida Panthers 5-2. Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun made 38 saves in the Predators' 3-0 shutout win over the New York Rangers. The win was Vokoun's 17th career shutout.

The Colorado Avalanche downed the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1, as John-Michael Liles scored twice for the winners. The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Montreal Canadiens 2-1.

Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 21 saves to help the Ducks beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1. And the Minnesota Wild eked out a 2-1 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Kings for their franchise-record sixth consecutive win.
