NATO Forces Battle Taleban Insurgents North of Kabul

NATO and Afghan officials say NATO troops have fought suspected Taleban insurgents north of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

The officials say the clash took place Friday and Saturday in the Tagab Valley. Most of the fighting in Afghanistan has been concentrated in the south and east, and clashes close to Kabul have been rare.

In a separate incident, in southeastern Afghanistan, Taleban insurgents ambushed a convoy carrying supplies to a NATO base, killing two Pakistani drivers.

Meanwhile, Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot pressed Pakistan to seal its border to stop militants from crossing into Afghanistan and battling NATO and Afghan troops.

Bot told reporters in Kabul Saturday, his country will also push its NATO allies to send more troops to the volatile south.
