High winds and heavy snow have knocked out power to the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi, stranding people on ski lifts and in the subway for hours.
Officials say wet snow and ice on power lines cut electricity to 400,000 people on Tuesday. Officials hope to have power fully restored later Wednesday.
Sochi is bidding to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. Russia is striving to upgrade power systems nationwide.
