NBA: Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs Claim Victory


The Dallas Mavericks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-90 Wednesday in National Basketball Association (NBA) action.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 23 points, while teammate Jason Terry scored an additional 21 points. Dallas has now won four straight games, including three road wins. They lead the NBA with an overall record of 56 wins, 11 losses.

Cleveland lost despite a 31-point performance from superstar LeBron James.

Elsewhere in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs enjoyed a 90-72 rout of the Indiana Pacers. Tim Duncan scored 27 points to help the Spurs snap a two-game losing streak.

Wednesday's other winners in the NBA include Miami, Charlotte, Toronto, the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota and Washington.

The Miami Heat defeated the Atlanta Hawks 91-83, winning for the 10th time in 11 games. The Charlotte Bobcats beat the Boston Celtics 92-84. Toronto's Chris Bosh scored 34 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Raptors to a 92-85 win over the Orlando Magic.

The Los Angeles Clippers edged the Milwaukee Bucks 104-103. The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Sacramento Kings 95-89. And Washington's Gilbert Arenas scored 42 points, including the game-winning shot at the buzzer, to lead the Wizards to a 108-106 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics.
