Tennis: Henin Reaches Third Round of Sony Ericsson Open

Top-ranked Justine Henin of Belgium has reached the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament in Miami, Florida, but American James Blake is out of the event.

Henin, the second seed in the women's draw, scored a 6-4, 6-1 win over American Vania King. The Belgian plays France's Virginie Razzano, a straight-sets winner over Martina Muller of Germany (6-4, 7-6).

Henin's compatriot Kim Clijsters also advanced, scoring a three-set win over Akiko Morigami (4-6, 6-0, 6-0). Clijsters faces Australian Samantha Stosur, who beat Olga Poutchkova of Russia (6-2, 6-2).

In men's play, James Blake lost his second round match to Florent Serra of France in three sets (6-7, 6-2, 3-6). Chile's Fernando Gonzalez advanced with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Thomas Johansson of Sweden.

Novak Djokovic of Serbia ousted Daniele Bracciali of Italy (7-6, 6-4). Spanish player and 13th seeded David Ferrer defeated Argentina's Juan Monaco in straight sets (6-2, 6-2). Sixteenth seeded Mikhail Youzhny of Russia advanced with a three-set win over compatriot Teimuraz Gabashvili (3-6, 6-3, 6-3).

Paul-Henri Mathieu of France beat Jurgen Melzer (6-0, 7-5). American Robert Kendrick - a late replacement when Aussie Lleyton Hewitt withdrew with a back injury - ousted Dutchman Raemon Sluiter (6-4, 6-4). Olivier Rochus of Belgium scored a straight-sets win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain (6-3, 6-4).

In the women's draw, seventh seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia also advanced with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Peng Shuai of China. The Serbian plays Mara Santangelo of Italy in the next round. Santangelo beat American Jill Craybas in straight sets (6-3, 6-1).

Number-10 seed Dinara Safina beat American Laura Granville (6-1, 6-1). Safina plays Ai Sugiyama of Japan, a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Anastasiya Yakimova of Belarus. China's Li Na advanced with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tamira Paszek of Austria.
