Two courts in Nigeria have offered conflicting rulings over whether the vice president can run in this month's presidential election.
The Court of Appeal ruled Tuesday morning that the country's election commission had the right to disqualify Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
However, later in the day, a lower court ordered the election commission to include the vice president on the ballot.
Abubakar's camp says it will take the case to the Supreme Court.
The general secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association (Lawal Rabana) says there is little chance the Supreme Court will have time to hear the case and make a decision before the election.
Last month, the electoral body excluded Abubakar's name from the ballot because he had been indicted on fraud charges. Abubakar says the charges are politically motivated.
Voting for the country's 36 state governors and state parliaments is to take place April 14, with elections for president and the federal legislature a week later.
The vote is expected to mark the first democratic transition in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country.
