NBA: Mavericks, Spurs Even Playoff Series at 1-1


The Dallas Mavericks beat the Golden State Warriors 112-99 Wednesday to even their first-round National Basketball Association playoff series at one game apiece.

Jason Terry scored 28 points and Dirk Nowitzki bounced back from a poor game one performance to score 23. Game three of the best of seven Western Conference series will be held Friday in Oakland, California.

In another Western Conference series, the San Antonio Spurs nearly blew a 17-point lead, but held on to defeat the Denver Nuggets 97-88. Tim Duncan scored 22 points and blocked five shots for the Spurs. San Antonio has evened their best-of-seven series at one game apiece, with the series moving to Denver on Saturday.

And in the Eastern Conference, Cleveland's Drew Gooden scored 24 points to lead the Cavaliers to a 109-102 win over the Washington Wizards. Teammate LeBron James scored 27 points, despite playing on a sprained ankle. Cleveland now has a commanding 2-0 series lead over Washington, where the series will shift for game three on Saturday.
