Rosie O'Donnell is leaving The View. The 45-year-old comic actress departs the popular U.S. chat show in June, after less than one year. She said the split came after she and the ABC television network failed to agree on contract terms.
Rosie O'Donnell's stormy tenure was marked by a high-profile war of words with billionaire developer Donald Trump, which forced moderator Barbra Walters to placate both parties.
O'Donnell also clashed with news magnate Rupert Murdoch, fellow daytime hostess Kelly Ripa, and the celebrity judges on American Idol.
Her controversial run helped The View increase its audience by about 17 percent over the previous year. Rosie O'Donnell says she will occasionally return to The View as a special correspondent.
ABC has not yet named a permanent replacement.
