Islamist radicals at a mosque in Pakistan have released two policemen held captive nearly a week in a standoff with authorities.
A prayer leader at the mosque says the two were freed on humanitarian grounds.
One of the policemen says they were treated well but are happy to be going home.
Radical students at the Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, in Islamabad kidnapped four policemen outside the mosque last Friday after the detention of 11 students.
Two of the officers were released Saturday after authorities agreed to hand over several of the detained students.
The Red Mosque has been challenging Pakistani authorities by launching anti-vice patrols and setting up its own court to enforce a strict Islamic code of justice.
