The second-seeded Nadal scored a 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 win over American Mardy Fish, while Djokovic dismissed Potito Starace of Italy, 6-0, 6-3, 6-4.
Sixth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko knocked out countryman Evgeny Korolev, (7-6, 6-4, 7-6) number seven Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic eliminated Nicolas Massu of Chile (7-6, 6-4, 6-2) and number nine American James Blake topped Russia's Igor Andreev, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
Highlighting the women's draw Tuesday, fourth-seeded defending champion Amelie Mauresmo of France needed only 63 minutes to advance past American Jamea Jackson, 6-1, 6-3, while number-two Maria Sharapova of Russia ousted Taiwan's Chan Yung-jan, 6-1, 7-5.
Third-seeded Serbian Jelena Jankovich topped Anne Keothavong of Britain 6-2, 6-0, number five Svetlana Kuznetsova rallied to defeat Ukraine's Julia Vakulenko (4-6, 6-4, 6-3). and eighth-seeded Anna Chakvetadze of Russia defeated Angelique Kerber of Germany, (7-5, 6-3).
Tim Henman kept English hopes alive with a five-set marathon win over 25th-seeded Spaniard Carlos Moya (6-3, 1-6, 5-7, 6-2, 13-11). The match was completed Tuesday after being suspended by darkness Monday night at 5-5 in the deciding set. Henman finally prevailed in a lengthy 24-game fifth set on his seventh match point when Moya double faulted.
