White House Spokesman Snow to Leave in September

update

President Bush says he looks forward to working with his incoming press secretary, Dana Perino, and wishes good luck to outgoing spokesman Tony Snow, 52, who will step down on September 14.

The president, accompanied by Snow and Perino, briefly spoke to reporters at the White House Friday after the announcement of Snow's departure date.

Snow said his time in the White House has been "a blast" and said he will continue to speak out about issues he cares about.

Snow had announced previously he will leave before President Bush's term ends in January 2009, but had declined to set a date. The 52-year-old cancer survivor said he will not be able to make it to the end of the administration because of financial concerns.

Incoming White House press secretary Perino served in Snow's place while he underwent treatment for colon cancer earlier this year. Like Snow, she has a background in broadcasting and has worked in communications for U.S. lawmakers and the Department of Justice.
