Colombian officials say an airplane carrying 15 soldiers and crew has gone missing en route to a rebel dominated area in the southern part of the country.
Government aviation officials say the HK-4055 airplane left an army base in the western city of Villavicencio Monday on a short flight to the rural outpost of Uribe, about 150 kilometers south of the capital, Bogota. The officials say the plane never arrived at its destination.
The plane had been contracted by the military and carried 15 soldiers and a crew of three.
The army has organized a search for the plane and an investigation into the incident is continuing.
