Murray Wins Doha Tennis Title


Britain's Andy Murray has won his fourth career tournament title by beating Stanislas Wawrinka in the finals of the Qatar Open hard court tennis tournament in Doha.

Murray, the third seed, converted five of his 13 break point opportunities and edged the Swiss player with aggressive baseline play in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

The victory marked Murray's first win over the Swiss player in three career meetings. The 20-year-old Briton improved to 4-4 in ATP Tour tournament finals.

For the win, the world No. 11 Murray took home $171,000. Wawrinka earned $92,400. The tournament is one of several events players are using to prepare for the Australian Open, the first major of the year, which starts January 20th in Melbourne.
