Spanish authorities say a powerful car bomb has exploded near a Civil Guard barracks in the northern city of Burgos, lightly wounding at least 46 people.
Officials say the blast went off in the early morning hours Wednesday and caused major damage to the area. The car packed with explosives had been parked outside the multi-story barracks that housed members of Spain's paramilitary police force and their families.
Police have blamed the Basque separatist group ETA for the attack.
ETA has killed more than 825 people since the late 1960s, in its push for an independent Basque state in northern Spain and southwestern France.
