The medal count will rise on the third day of the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Germany. As our correspondent reports from the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, there is no morning session on Monday.
The athletes take a rest in the morning, but the evening session will be packed, with medals on the line in six events. The women are vying for the gold in four events, while men will try to medal in two.
The first event of the day will bring gold in the men's hammer throw. That's followed by the opening heats of the women's 400 meter hurdles.
Four more women's events are next, with the finals in the pole vault and triple jump, and semifinals in the 800 and 100 meters.
American Lauryn Williams earned her spot in the 100 meter final by winning her semifinal heat in a season's best time of 11.06 seconds.
"I think it was a very good race. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow," said Lauryn Williams. "Coming to form and everything is coming together at the right time. Season's best - it is a good time to have that right now."
Men will compete in the 1500 meter semifinals, and the 10,000 meter finals, while women will be chasing gold in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and the final event of the night - the 100 meters.
