Simon Bikindi, a prominent Rwandan musician, has been taken to the U-N tribunal for Rwanda to face charges in connection with the African country's 1994 genocide.
The court said (Thursday) Mr. Bikindi was brought from the Netherlands to the U-N tribunal in the Tanzanian city of Arusha. Dutch authorities arrested Mr. Bikindi last July at the court's request.
Prosecutors say Mr. Bikindi composed and performed songs which incited Rwanda's majority ethnic Hutus to massacre hundreds of thousands of minority Tutsis in 1994. He is also accused of helping plan and carry out the massacres. As many as 800-thousand Tutsis and politically moderate Hutus may have died in the genocide.
