Olympic ice hockey champion Canada has scored a 3-2 comeback victory over Switzerland in the second round of the World Ice Hockey Championships in Karlstad, Sweden.
Andy McDonald of the National Hockey League's Anaheim Mighty Ducks scored the game-winning goal in the third period. However, the Swiss team refused to surrender, and Ivo Ruthemann scored his country's second goal to narrow the score to 3-2. The result leaves Canada atop Group-E with eight points.
Also in Group-E, Germany scored a 3-2 win over Lativia. The Germans are in fourth place in the group behind Canada, The Czech Republic, and the United States.
In group-F in Goteborg, Olympic bronze medallist Russia skated to a 3-3 draw with Ukraine and Slovakia beat Austria, 6-3. Russia is in third place in the group behind Slovakia, Finland and host country Sweden.
