Dodgers' Shawn Green Breaks Rare Home Run Record - 2002-05-24

After nobody in Major League Baseball was able to do it for almost 10 years, Shawn Green of the Los Angeles Dodgers has become the second player in just three weeks to hit four home runs in one game.

Green's record-setting game came in Milwaukee Thursday, as his Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Brewers 16-3. The Dodgers right fielder connected every time at the plate, going six-for-six while scoring six runs and driving-in seven.

He became just the 14th player in the sport's history to hit four home runs in one game. Green also set a record for total bases in one game with 19, and tied the modern major league record for runs scored in a game.

Green doubled in the first inning, hit home runs in the second, fourth and fifth, singled in the eight inning, then capped his day with a 137-meter blast to right field. He received a standing ovation from the crowd.
